Any buddy running the new bravo 1 xs? Just finishing up the new spring add ons for 2014. I have a 2010 puma ftd single console, with a 250 merc that came with a 26 fury prop, 8″ manual jackplate. The first three year #s are similar 76-78mph by my self, 72-76 two people full tx. load, hole shot to plane no problem ever, last summer a lot of trouble getting on plane with full tx. load, I mean asking the co to lean forward until boat would break over, top end still 76mph. any help on whats up? So last fall I ran a 27 fury by my self and got the boat to 80 with out moving the jackplate, this is the fastest the boats been, so Im happy happy on this one, but Ive yet to tx this setup so I;m asking you what to expect out of this setup. Ok heres what Im finishing up on, New tourqmaster lower unit with a new 28″ bravo 1 xs prop and the 8″ atlas hydraulic jackplate.I would greatly appreciate some feed . Do I put the 26 fury on the new set up or run the 28 bravo? Any buddy running the bravo xs?
Yes. Several hundred hours on different hulls with an XS.Cons – lower top end speed, maybe not as fuel efficient in the mid-range due to slippagePros – Better hole shot, better ride in rough water as the XS will lift the back end of the boat and keep the bow down, easy to drive Fury is still the best all-around option for most rigs. Most complaints on it are slow hole shot and the majority of that is because many try to turn a big wheel for speed. If youre slow out of the hole, consider going to a 25″.
I ran one for a little bit, I liked the way it picked the boat up out of the water. I did have to move the motor up from where I run a Fury. Holes hot is great and it carries a load a lot better than a fury does. I lost 2-3 mph, otherwise it was great.
28 Bravo 1XS pushes my Cougar to 80.5 versus 79.8 with a 26 Fury. With a light load, power poles, cool weather. I like the prop. 2012 FTD.
So a 27 or 27.5 might be better for year round? My 26 fury is ok in holeshot but it lacks in overall lift and mid range
My 28 is a little slow out of the hole with a load, it is actually okay in the summer with just me. I would try a 27, you should run it about an inch higher than the Fury and adjust from there. On my boat, 5 on the Atlas gauge. I run the Fury at 2. Each increment is 1/4-inch approximately.
Thanks Everyone
Ive got a 2005 Cougar/225 Opti.I have a B&Bd Tempest 25p and a B&Bd Fury 25p….Fury is a tiny tiny bit faster but the Tempest carries a tourney load better.I just bought a Bravo I XS 26 and ran it for the first time today….96 degrees air temp! Let me just say that this prop is staying on my boat! Top speed solo was the same as the Fury and the holeshot was much better….50% fuel and full live wells, but solo! What stole the show was the mid range cruising acceleration, speed vs rpm and handling! Im finished chasing props!
