Wish i was smart enough to post a pic but im not,anyway buddy just sent me a pic of his trailer crossbrace snapped in half,this is a babied one owner garage kept 08 cougar,said he heard a pop while driving down the highway.ive had three cats he has had two ive never heard of this before,what cha think

I had a bad weld on one of the cross braces on my 09, broke there, but luckily have a fellow BCB owner and friend thats a professional welder. Easy fix for him and hasnt moved since.

depends on where it broke. if in a weld just a bad weld. I would say that Ive heard of this on a BCB trailer zero times until now.

Did it look like this? This happened shortly after I picked up the boat. BCB graciously picked up the tab but I sure would like to know what caused it.

You see the weld right next to the break? That is what is called the heat affected zone of the weld. The break could be caused by the metal being bad, if the beam was torch cut so it could be bent then it could be carbon that wasnt cleaned/ground out before it was welded. Depends on the material but if it is chromoly it probably should have been stress relieved. I could list several other things but they would all be guesses. The only way to know for sure is to send it to a metalurgist to be analyzed. Also just so you know I have been a certified welder for over 30 years and have seen lots of cracks/breaks in different kinds of metals and there is always a reason why.Johnny

There have been about 8 including this one on 2008 and later trailers. Its not common and is usually the center cross member.
