Topic: Broken brake line connection…. Need advise!

I recently bought a used 2018 BassCat Caracal in overall excellent condition (170 hrs on engine). I doubt the trailer has over 1,000 miles on it prior to me buying it. I pulled it 1,200 miles across country to get it home. I have only used the boat three times so far… I was out yesterday and noticed when my boat was off the trailer that I had a brake hose connection broken. The broken connection is on the Starboard side on the back tire of the tandem trailer. From what I can tell the brake hose simply goes across the back axle connecting the two back brake cylinders. It appears the line has been broken for a while as it doesn’t look like a fresh break. I pulled the boat home yesterday after fishing approx. 70 miles and the brakes seem to work just fine. Is this a serious issue? Should I not use it anymore until I can get it fixed? I can’t help but wonder if I just pulled this boat across country with this problem…. the brakes seem to work fine.

Please help… any expert advice is greatly appreciated.

If the brake line is broken, yes it is. That means the brake that line services is not working. In fact, im wondering how you havent pumped all the fluid out of the system with an open line.

Here is a picture of my issue…. again this is the starboard side on the back axial. The broken line connects the right side to the left side. I have a new hydraulic hose on order from BassCat. I am hoping to bleed the brake lines and refill everything on my own. Any advise on this particular setup would be greatly appreciated. It appears the lines start from the actuator down the starboard side going from right side front caliper to back caliper then across the back axial to the back port side caliper then up to the front axil caliper. The bleed screw is located on the port side front axial.

These poly lines have a small bronze fitting and they can be impacted by debris like a tire carcass, causing the break. You can replace this with a rubber line, contact us for a new stainless, or go back to the poly line. The brakes were not operating if this line is in this condition and that hose appears to have been broken a while.

Do yourself a favor and replace both rear lines since the system will need to be filled and bled anyway. If the first one went do to fatigue, the second one may as well.
