I started building a deck extension for my 94 Pantera 2 last night. Im planning on making it a lot like the one BassCat made for it with a lid over the tackle shelf in front of the console and a door going from the deck to the floor between the rod box and the console. I am using 3/4 inch plywood and and am planning on fiberglassing it in but I need to build up the bottom edge to make the insert sit level with the lids on the deck. Does anyone know how thick the carpet from BassCat is? Once I know how thick it is I will know how much I need to build it up.Any info would be greatly appreciated. I tried to call BassCat to ask them all day today and every time I tried to call I had something come up at work so I hope someone out there would know the answer. Thanks,Mike
Heres how I did mine on my 95 PII. I think I used 5/8″ plywood, so 3/4″ should be a little better as mine is just barely lower than the rest of the deck but not enough to bother me moving around on the deck. http://www.bbcboards.net/zerothread?id=372891
Alabass,Thanks for the info, I have actually been using that thread to do this project. Do you think the fiberglass mat is necessary or could you just use the fiberglass to seal the wood? Thanks,Mike
I used Alabass idea, but went 3/4″ since Im a big boy. Wrap the carpet around top and at least around the bottom edging and it is flush. Mine is not perfect, and it cost me a torn bicep tendon intially, but it is flush. Use single layer of fiberglass to help strengthen and reduce water issues….Last edited by jignpig on February 11th, 2012, 8:37 pm, edited 1 time in total.96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner

tohotim, I sent NacCat the link but he is hard headed. Once he starts a project it is too late. This thing will look like a brand new version of what your selling when he is done. He should have this thing ready just in time to go catch crappie or take his Lufkin buddy out to catch catfish.
Tohotim,I saw your post and I would be interested but I just do not have that much money to throw at this project. I should be able to build this for about $150.00 but I will keep it in mind. Thanks.Jignpig, I was worried that the carpet would not be thick enough to take up the difference between the 3/4 in. plywood and the lids. Ill get started on the fiberglass in the next day or two. Thanks for the information.Bassbroker,I believe our Lufkin buddy caught the catfish in your Pantera 2 not mine. Ill keep more pictures coming. Our Lufkin buddy tells me that you are going with us to the Classic. It should be a good time. Thanks,Mike
Mike, I think we should meet at Wulfs that way we can kill two birds with one stone. I also think Rick should have us some free hats and shirts when we get to Shreveport so we can advertise BCB as we walk around. I wear an XL Rick.

I weigh about 300lbs and wanted to have plenty of reinforcement.
Not sure of your whole plan , but I saw no mention of cross ribs . As a fellow “big guy” , I recommend a couple of reinforcement ribs running the length of the insert . ( left to right of boat ) Just glass a couple of strips of 1×2 to the bottom of the plywood . — I also recommend gel coating ( or marine painting ) the whole thing before you carpet it to ensure waterproofing . — Just my 2 cents worth .
