I was washing out my battery compartment tonight and the wall between my livewells and batteries were busted. I just replaced all the batteries this Spring so I know it must have happened recently. Look at these pics and give me your thoughts and how to fix this. Im not to worried about the integrity of the boat just yet but I am worried about the future and the back deck.
Thats a tattle tell that BCB uses to determine how hard a boat is run in rough water. This is not a structural problem and can be repaired by a fiberglass shop.
Hey Phil who pulled your string?? Im asking for help and Im not bashing the brand nor the boat. Hell I love my boat, probably more than you. Coming from the guy who brags about running balls to the wall you would think you would have the same issue then! Look through my posts, I actually take care of my boat and drive it with care. If you wanna get sideways or negative with me this is not the place. Im the guy with a 37k boat that Im worried about. A wise man once said its better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth, you just happened to put it in text!
I dont think Phil is “pulling your string” I remember reading a previous post that talked about exactly what he said. The boats are designed to have that part show damage when run in rougher then normal waters/conditions. If I remember right it does NOT effect the structural integrity of the boat itself. Im sure BCB will jump in and give you some info direct from the source. I re-read the posts and dont think anyone was bashing you or the brand.Good luck!Jon
If it was mine I would call the factory. They would know exactly what to do ………
Thats exactly what I thought when I saw the pics. When its rough or B@(( busting waves I take it easy. Trust me I do not want this to be more than cosmetic. But for someone to say its a tattle tale way to determine I operate my boat like a fool is ridiculous. Im glad he looked at my pics and diagnosed my problem. I have such a warm and fuzzy feeling now.
I think he was just restating what has already been written.Search Cracks in Fiberglass in the forum.BCB stated previouslyThose are termed a “tell tale” by BCB and they are 3/16″ fiberglass that are made to break in rough water conditions. BCB staff can read those and tell instantly how hard a boat has been run. When the hull is coming up and the deck with live wells, people, gear and deck are landing together from those waves impacting the hull, these are made to break. These are made to break right in that corner joint where the two flats join. They could make those where they would not break, though then other areas would flex from those impacts. We see nothing out of the ordinary to be concerned with, though there may be some more in areas that need attention we do not see here. There are probably some on more of your boats and they are a design feature, not a flaw as Phil sort of said as well.We know some are out of the office on the road this week, though you can see if other opinions are in house that can help. Is this why you see some “stress” like cracks around lids and such particularly in the day and cooler storage areas on an FTD or Eyra? Phils post raised some suspicion with me so I had to go look at my live well immediately
HC, you have been jumping to many barge waves!!!
Lol I been totin a full live well of water and 25 lbs all summer and no cracks! This post had me worried though!

I have such a warm and fuzzy feeling now.If you call BCB thats exactly what they call them. You are takin this wayyyy to personally man. Thats what theyre called dude. Ive had em, lotsa folks have. Look at build images- wells are hanging from top deck and webbing you cracked is just that…..thin webbing to smoothly merge the sides of the wells to the floor right there. There is webbing like this throughout the boat. Those you can see unlike most of em. As for HCs question- those are different. You are talkin about those rolls and drops on edges on the top capwhich is gel and glass as opposed to glass only on tattle tales in the back. The edges are gonna be areas of torque because theres a nearby substantial load perpendicular to the edges. Step down area near day box, passenger seat Pan edge, rear by motor, etc…big static load nearby or someone bouncing nearby or in case of day box edges- jumping from top deck down to top of the box. Ive got em all on mine- oh well. Boat has gotten its ass fished off for 5 years and 450 hours+. Runs great, fishes poorly only cause its me!C.O.D. Jr. III
Ive got them in mine, and Im proud of em, I earned them catching 20 pounds of smallies in 3 and 4 footers 40 miles from the ramp.
Brad Kell these guys explained it best I believe . If I could add in plain English the tells are meant to separate in a way that basscat can determine where and how much the hull has flexed . This will assist them to determine impact , abuse , deficiency , or something unusual . I dont think anyone was trying to accuse you of abusing your boat . I personally say run it hard and take good care of it and get all the enjoyment you can .
