Hello,

Wondering if anyone has an opinion on getting a better holeshot on my Caracal. I have a 2020 Caracal with A Mercury 225 4 stroke. I am thinking of switching to a 4 blade fury 23 pitch as I have a 3 blade 23 now. I am a big guy over 300 pounds and so is my partner with live wells full and us in the boat its struggling out of the hole. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

21 pitch 4 blade.

You will loose a few mph at top end but you will enjoy the ride and handling.

So just went through same issue with my 2018 with 2019 4 Stroke.

The 23 Fury 3 was the ticket. I had 24 fury tough holeshot with 2 people and livewell full.

Fury 4 24 same thing little better (my theory the extra exhaust holes helped)

Fury 23 spot on.

Now, only had boat a year and still learning to drive, but if you have a hydraulic jack plate put it high on holeshot. I have Bobs and anything below 3 it is slow.

Also, I am looking for mechanic time, but make sure throttle is opening 100%. I cannot get enough RPM’s up top and think I am not 100%.

The 24/4 fury was great on my two stroke caracal, maybe you should hunt down a 23/4 fury…

Try Plugging the vent holes of the 23 before you spend money on another prop.

How about trying a 22 Fury 3 blade.

I was mistaken I have a 24 fury 3 blade. Do you still revoke d a 22 fury 3 blade of should I go to a four blade. Two full live wells two big 300 lbs plus dudes and full side by side gas tanks and it’s a dog. I need help getting it out of the hole!

4 blade, period. Too much weight in the backend. 600 pounds of dudes, 300 pounds of water in the live wells, gas junk in storage boxes behind seats. 4 blade or live with it. Bet there is 1200 pounds from the seats back.

Here is another suggestion before you go buying another prop, call Ronnie Gilbert and discuss all of this with him. He is very good with setting up a prop for a Basscat, and he stands behind his work.

I have a Caracal also that came with a 25p 3 blade Yamaha prop and had the same issue. I tried a 24p 4 blade fury awesome hole shot, lift and handling just a few mph slower. I ended up with a 23p 3 blade fury. Awesome hole shot with a full tanks, tackle and full live wells and two big boys we do about 68 to 70 mph.
I also run a Yamaha Sho with a fury prop. Manual jack plate, power poles and 4 lead batteries.
