Caracal or Cougar

I would appreciate some feedback on my decision to purchase a Caracal or Cougar?? I have driven and fished a Cougar, love the ride and way it handles rough water, but my drawback is the narrow deck (Im getting old). Believe I May prefer the wide deck of Caracal, but being 19 ft concerned on how it handles and fishes on rough water compared to Cougar? Thanks

Caracal will be cheaper in price due to engine being a little smaller in hp.Caracal will have a wide front deck which you think you need.Cougar will ride better.Cougar will be faster by a considerable margin all things based average. Length vs. width. You make the choice. Both will handle any rough water condition. By the way, the Caracal is not 19. Its 19.8.

Owning a Caracal and having ridden in a cougar, I dont find much difference in ride. Both are fine. Cougar will be much faster.

I recently traded my 09 CougarFTD for a 2015 Caracal. I did it primarily for the wider deck. Im getting old too! My balance isnt that great, never has been. The Caracal deck gives me a bit more security while on the water. I loved my Cougar. It took a while for me to make the decision to go with the Caracal. Now that Ive done that, Im quite pleased. There really isnt a lot of difference in the ride of the two boats. The Cougars ride in rough water is good, but the Caracal isnt far behind. No bass boat rides “good” in really rough water. The Cougar will be faster, maybe 6-8 mph faster in most cases. That was of no concern to me. I seldom ever ran my Cougar faster than 50-60 mph anyway. The Caracal will easily do that and more. Good luck with your decision.

If you can wait until next spring, the Lynx may be the answer to your question…I believe it will be a wide-deck – 250hp rated boat between the Puma and Jaguar. Just a thought…but of course if you wait that long another boat that would potentially work better may be announced / leaked and its a never-ending cycle because theyre always trying to improve the models.Purchased new 5/4/15Bass Cat Sabre Vision EliteMercury Pro XS 150MotorGuide 75lb Tour EditionHumminbird – Stock (will be changing soon I hope)

Either will be a fine boat.I love the way the Caracal fishs and the layout. With rear tanks you should see 74-75 pretty easy.

I have 2015 Caracal.. and as mentioned above it is a fine ride.. plenty of speed and very stable.. both while running and fishing. she will do low 70s with 225 SHO.. I will be selling mine soon.. might could save ya some money…. Mo
