Specifically the ones that came from a PIV to Caracal- Where do you put your stuff. I love my Caracal, all 2.2 hours have been great, I put every single rod in this boat (realizing I don’t need to). I had to buy new soft plastic storage bins as my old bins don’t fit in the slanted boxes of this boat – no problem. I had to reconfigure where the bumpers go as the port and starboard lockers aren’t half as deep as the PIV, again, no problem. The biggest hurdle is where do you guys put your butt seat and full seat?!?!? I used my butt seat 2% of the time, but it fit in one of my front lockers in the PIV – not the case in the shallow boxes of the Caracal? I don’t want it on the floor if I hardly use it, but would like to have it in the boat for when I want to use it. The full seat my wife uses, and I suppose I can just stick in the seat hole on the back deck, but you guys don’t know my wife. She’ll trip on it, and as I mentioned, you don’t know her, she surely can’t come up front with me! So, my question is how have you guys stored your stuff in the Caracal? PLEASE post pictures!!
Also a new Caracal owner (2020) that I picked up used this past June. I also was surprised the butt seat didn’t fit in any compartment but the middle rod locker (unless you have rods in it). I use my butt seat when ever I fish so that’s not an issue. My run to ramp is usually only a couple miles so I just leave in post hole. When I go on a longer tow, I don’t like to leave it in so I lay on the floor with seat part protected under console. Most folks that fish with me don’t use a seat so I leave in the truck. I came out of a 07 Classic and those seats were not attached to post so you could take them apart and the seat would fit in rear storage bin, post in a rod locker. But ours are once piece so that’s not an option. I have a second butt seat that is two parts that I can store if needed.
Other storage, I put boat bumpers (Taylor curved with gunnel protection) in rear starboard compartment but they will fit in any compartment but day box. Plastics I have in Rubber Maid bins (7, 8 if I take box organizer out) stacked in starboard rear front compartment. The three that don’t fit go in rear port side. Tools go with boat bumpers as well as boat lines (3) and any other odds or ends. Hard baits in trays (Plano 3700) in starboard rod locker at an angle. Think their 8, maybe 10. In front part of locker is fire extinguisher, bags of swim jig heads, some odds/ends. Front center storage, fishing tools, worm weights/hooks, other fishing gear I can’t remember. Boat in storage, it snows here so no pictures. starboard rod locker I keep stuff not used often. Spare reels, oar, couple other things. It’s mostly empty. I should move my rear anchor light pole over there (just thought of it now!) In co’s rod locker is my rain suit. Drop shot bag when I have it, under passenger seat. Under driver seat pretty much empty. Left cooler under front step, sun glasses, buffs, gloves. I usually only use cooler under step to rear deck, if need extra room for drinks use front step cooler too.
I have to rear 26 gallon tanks. I try to keep port side full, starboard maybe half for balance. I don’t make long runs often so I can get away with a lot less then 52 gallons of fuel though thee 4 stroke is a little thirsty compared to my old 200hp Optimax. I have NOT mastered the handling on this boat yet. She dances at about 67-68 which surprised me for such a big boat.
That’s the best this 65 year old memory can do. Let me know if you have any questions. Congrats on your new rig!

In my Lynx, I replaced the hex head bolts holding butt seat to post with thumb bolts. Seat and post are stored separately in port box up front. I never use it but coangler sometimes does. Have to assemble and take apart but only option I found. Thumb bolts a little quicker to use.
That’s not a bad idea. Or, I could just switch out plate under seat and old style swivil- ez pole so seat still matches boat.
On our 2022, I can put my pro pole butt seat in the front right/center box (not the starboard rod locker) with the pole going forward and the seat at the back but it takes up the floor-space of the compartment so I usually leave it at home.
It also fits easily in the battery compartment on the drivers side but I’d need to figure out how to keep it secured as I don’t want it shorting out batteries if it decides to bounce around in there so again, I just leave it at home.
Definitely makes me rethink about going into a Caracal from my PIV.
I didn’t realize that the stowage area was that different.
The Caracal has a ton of storage, it’s just different than the PIV which if I remember right, is more or less a short Puma. Your rod lockers and compartments are very deep where as the Caracal’s mid boat front storage is also deep (two compartments for tackle right middle, main rod locker left middle for a lot of rods and some tackle. The two outside rod lockers are not very deep but still hold a lot. I have all my boxes with cranks/top water/ lighter tackle in starboard rod box for easy access, on port side I store extra stuff I don’t expect to use often like extra rods or reels etc. That locker is usually buried under rods so things I don’t expect to need go in there. The beauty (besides the huge front deck) is the main rod locker because it’s towards the middle the rods on deck are not in the way if you want to pull out another one quick. I actually try to plan so rods I expect to use in the morning are on deck, those I plan to use later are in rod locker in top slots but out of the way for quick easy access. I try to put rods away when I take more out so I don’t end up with a dozen rods getting tangled up on deck. The only real storage issue are the seats. I always use my butt seat while fishing so that really isn’t an issue though I’d prefer to store when trailering any distance. I also have an extra butt seat with old design where seat and pole separate. That one I can store after taking it apart. The fold down seat I don’t think has ever been in the boat. The butt seat only fits in rod lock if there are no rods in it which isn’t going to happen during the season. Otherwise the storage works real well for most of us. My rear compartments are pretty empty, my power pole pumps are in the compartment off bilge cover originally designed for 2 stroke oil tank. (I have 2020 Caracal with 225 4S).
Like someone mentioned above you can cram the seat in the driver side rod box. Its not easy nor easy to get back out. I always thought about getting a detachable cushion for mine so the pole and cushion could be stowed separately, never got around to it though and sold the boat to move to a puma ftd.
Regarding the butt seat storage, I actually bought a new, smaller seat from Bass Pro. They had many color options and it matched my other seats very closely. Attached it to the pole and was able to easily store it in the large front storage box.
New Caracal owner here as well. I just lay the seats in the floorboard while on the road. Bought a couple of chair leg covers/tips at Home Depot to slip on the rod end of the seats to keep from scratching anything.
