Caracal Prop and set up

Have a 26 fury on my new caracal but im getting cavatation when it first comes up on plane. What are other Caracal owners running on theirs. Have the 225 Mercury proxs. Where do you have your jp set?

As long as the cavitation isnt greater than a couple of seconds I would call it good!! Set the boat up for top end speed and adjust the PVS plugs in the hub of the prop for cavitation.

Everything Ive read said to take all the plugs out of the fury.

Ive got a 25 Fury on my Caracal/225 ProXs. Only one plug out. It jumps out of the hole quite nicely.

Im running a 24p fury, one plug out. 2 Powerpoles, hydraulic jp, 3 batteries, 33 gal belly tank with extra 10 gal in back. She jumps out of the hole with a best top end speed of 75.6 mph so far (alone). Full gear, 2 people, full live well and 3/4 fuel runs 72.6 mph. Prop at 3 3/4 inches below pad. Hope this helps. Murph

I have my gauge is between 4 and 6, about 4 inches below pad.

Its not the height of the jackplate. Its the warmer weather and the elevation you are running at. You wont believe it but I argued and argued with a Mercury tech because my boat would pop out of the hole on Grand Lake on a Friday but take 45 seconds to get on Plane an hour away on beaver on a Saturday… I went from a 26p to a 25p and it almost breaks your neck coming out of the whole now. You best option and cheapest is to start pulling the black plastic plugs out of the prop 1 at a time until it comes up out of the hole the way you want it. If you have all 3 out and its still not right, you might need to go down 1p in size.

If you step down in Prop size, it will blow out less. A 26 seems steep for a Merc 225. Seems a 25 Fury would be the happy Medium. IMO if you add plugs to the 26P your hole shot will suffer.
