BCB..after putting some hours on the new kitty.. one thing I think the Caracal need is a gas shock on the bigger rear storage lid..Since its hinges are up against the side, the lid does not stay open.. forcing you to hold it open while you get something out.. A shock would help there. Allowing for two hands to be used.Curious if this is something that could be adjusted?Great rig other than that!!!!Mo
We will be sure those who need it receive your comment. They may have reasons otherwise of course, which we would never think of.
While we are considering this,,,,, a hydraulic jackplate may need to be a standard item on this unit. The load carrying capacity, along with fuel make the Caracal a bit tough to set-up in one position, and to prop correctly. A move on the fly plate would negate this issue easily, and Im considering one at this time for mine……food for thought. I would highly recommend to future buyers.
Ok Im starting to wonder a little bit.Im considering the Caracal, but Im wondering how you guys feel about the boat after some time in seat.I finally got to see one this weekend, and it was awesome…I was just wondering “real world” how it was working out for you guys that have one already!
Real world perspective ? Better fishability than I ever dreamed. the “nose down” attitude that youd never guess it had on the trailer is incredible. Super stable “walk around the edges” rig.Good performance for a giant boat with a 225, and a terrific ride. Im working on mine this week, and think the hydraulic plate will solve any issues I have had. Unloaded the boat is a handful to drive and performs like youd want one to, loaded up with gas and gear + water in the livewells it lacks a tad in the holeshot, although midrange is fine I still need a few more rpms on top, too. The plate should improve overall performance.RIDE is everything I expected. This boat is rock solid ! Handles like its on rails, turns on a dime, and lifts like a haint !The only time I know its a sub 20 rig is when both guys break out the crankin rods !Everyone that has been in my boat loves it, myself included.Anytime you wanna go for a ride Ill be glad to show mine off ! The Caracal is the perfect boat for me, the only improvement would be all the fuel in the rear and underseat storage, which should be an option soon. Two 26 gallon fuel cells will easily fit in the rear. That will be the perfect 198″ boat !Last edited by dbasketman on February 24th, 2015, 8:34 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Thats what I like to hear. Im really digging the wide front deck for my seven year old who loves to go with me now. Its a little tight on the deck of my P2 with him.Im down between the Caracal, Eyra and Cougar FTD….with that big deck kind of pushing the Caracal up front. Was wondering how it handled on the trolling motor. Will definitely be getting a Hydraulic Jackplate.
I use the MK fortrex 80, 24v., and its plenty ! The boat handles great on the troller, btw,,,, sorry I left that out !
Great info! I have one on order right now and chose the white nose. What colors are the rest of your boat?
Still this is the most innovative yet practical deck layout Ive ever seen. Even the trolling motor in the up position is set in such away to make room for rod handles for those 8 sticks.

I too am looking hard still at this boat.
