You know we got to run the Caracal with both the gen2 Evenrude and the Pro XS Optimax. Both ran very well, both had great holeshots, and both actually similar performing, IMO.The Mercury was running the Verado lower, with a 25p Fury, the BRP had a 26p Raker. I have to think the Opti with the performance lower and a 26p fury would have had better runs, but JRs boat ran great as it was, and was a handful if over trimmed. The 25 Fury is what Im used to running, and performs well all round. The boat is what is important here ! Incredible layout, very well equipped in a premium package boat there will be some sticker shock, but look around and compare boat to boat. The oil tank compartment has been separated from the bilge. The storage box behind the passenger has a drop in tub, which may be removed for access to live well/bilge area, or you could mount pumps for power poles in either the oil tank box or bilge where drop in box is, and replace with shorter drop in. Standard fuel is 33gal under seat, one 10 gal. In rear, optional extra 10 gallon in rear drivers side. Ample opportunities for electronics mounting, retractable rod straps standard, optional dual console available, and it has lots of room to its side for rods to lay easily unobstructed. Seating is perfectly elevated and reclined for comfort and view, and passenger console has room to stand behind and hold onto. Dual floor drains in the floor, and cool new latches on the cooler and live well lids. No other manufacturer uses a 24 oz. Carpet, none. They use the same 24 oz. Carpet on the trailers !A blend of 60% pure vinyl ester resin is used on all premium models, and is an option on other models.(up charge)BCB uses the best products for specific uses on their hulls, like a specially formed “waffle” material they found in EU country and resin soaked to reinforce specific areas of the hull.Woven/roven mat is still used in the hull because of its tendency to remain intact if the hull is breached.Specialty fasteners, screws(28 different sizes), cams for removable consoles, stainless and aluminum machined pieces used throughout the boat instead of plastic.Tinned wiring used in all BCB products, to inhibit corrosion and loss of current/amperage.Specific electrical connectors used for quality permanent connection, instead of cheap imported connectors.New latches being used on live wells and coolers, WHY you ask ? Well it took me a minute but I caught up quickly,,,,,, They removed the “heater” from those compartments !!!! Think about stepping on barefoot, or kneeling on the latches on your knee in July or august, hot isnt it !!! Like I said,,,, took me a minute, too !BCB still manufactures their own wiring harness, trailers, detachable tongues, and TRANSOMS !I still see the spark in everyones eyes on the hill, they still love their craft, and customers are still family.Ive been running Cats a long time now, but Im even more impressed with the product and its future now than Ive ever been.No doubt YarCraft owners feel the same either. Im sure the quality theyre seeing is incredible compared to what they came from, and should continue to grow. These are small examples of why my BCB is built better than my old one, but you can tell why Im excited, and you should be as well.Best of all I was very happy to see people working at the plant, busy, smiling, and not wondering about their next paycheck, or layoff. That makes me feel better about supporting our family at BCB.I didnt even get into why he trailer has bends/bows designed in it, or why the stripper pole is curved now, or how they use th cannon plug cover, or or, or,,,,,,Last edited by dbasketman on November 14th, 2014, 1:56 am, edited 2 times in total.
I wondered about the bend in the pole. I assumed it was to reduce vibration that I have heard about. That was until I saw a walk through video that Mike Lucas did of his new boat. He said the bend was for those that have a camper shell or SUV with a lift gate. Now you can open those without hitting the “stripper pole”. They really do think of everything. After seeing BCBs response, Mike did say that also.Last edited by toledobasser on November 14th, 2014, 4:10 pm, edited 2 times in total.Jim EbarbMany, LA (Toledo Bend Lake)2004 Cougar/ 225 OptimaxHumminbird Helix 12 Chirp SI on BalzOut Mount at bowLowrance HDS 7 at bowHumminbird Helix 12 Mega SI on Ram Mount at ConsoleLowrance HDS 8 in dash at console
The S bend is for easier access and prevents longer reaching from the boat to exit the boat and step out.
Rick did mention a banjo,,,, no, a harmonica,,,,,I thought maybe it was just a Louisiana thing, so the gals could stand on the spare of the empty trailer easier ?
Yeah we get how awesome bass cats boats are but how fast did it go
speck wrote:Yeah we get how awesome bass cats boats are but how fast did it go For a 225, fast enough to hurt some of the 250s on another brands owners feelings. I am guessing but from what I have read I dont doubt it for a second!Dan
75-76 I thought???????????????????????????/
HOman came out from underneath a rock . Yes mid 70s. Some faster some slower depending on everything.
I really like it …must see one in person. My Cougar FTD is great but I would love to have a Caracal. Mid 70s is plenty fast for me. That said , on a fixed retirement income , buying one is out of the question.Well…..maybe Ill get lucky on a lottery ticket ???
Interesting how the mindset has changed over last 5 years. Not a good or bad comment but observation.
