Received my carpet from BCB and now it is time to begin cutting and glueing. What does BCB recommend for cutting the carpet – specifically the holes in the deck carpet for th pedestal seats? I have some shears but they are too big to cut a small hole and f keep it perfectly round. Thank you.Jason Ferbrache – Edmond, OK 1995 Basscat Eyra

When I recarpeted my old Champion that used to have I used a pair of scissors and a razor blade. Here is a link to cutting corners I found this very helpful.http://www.bbcboards.net/bassboat-resto … t-job.html

You cut the seat post after it is glued down with either a carpet hook knife or a razor knife. The newbies at the factory prefer a razor knife, though older hands prefer hook knives.

I am using a carpet razor knife. I bought a huge pack of carpet blades (I think it was 100pk for about 12 bucks at HD in the carpet dept.). I have been changing the blade (or rotating it) about every other cut I make just to ensure a nice sharp blade. Sharp blades will cut like a knife thru butter and you can do all of your turns with it.I havent glued yet, but Im going to use DAP wellwood contact cement (if you adding pad, then its reccomended to use birdsong). My challenge right now is getting the old glue off. I have tried a number of methods, but nothing seems to work for me right now. We have some pretty cold temps up here in the north country and im pretty sure thats my issue.Good luck!

Thanks for advice – very helpful information.Kent, I used a razor blade scraper to remove the glue. Once I was able to work the blade under the glue I could kind of peal and scrape it off at the same time. Here are a couple of pics of a compartment lid I worked on. I would recommend getting a carpet knife they have a angle to them. I used one it helped a lot when you get into tight corners. Also do as other have said cut holes after your done.
