carpet logo install

My carpet logo came in and was wondering is all you do is peel of the back and stick it to the carpet or do you have to heat the glue with an iron?

Of course clean the carpeting with Windex or similar cleaner (non soap) that will remove dirt and greases. You hand press the carpet one direction forcing the nap to lay down. Mark the location for your decal with timing marks as getting them straight is pretty deceiving. Remove the backing and apply the logo with reasonable force, pressing it thoroughly once you locate it. Take a terry cloth towel and an iron, use a medium to medium high setting as the polypropylene carpet strands cant handle high heat. Slowly press the logo down with the iron on the terry cloth towel. You should be good to go then! BCB

How well are those logos holding up? Ive seen a lot of them out there, just not any older ones.

The new logo is an iron on vinyl in 3M material. They should hold up well, though if one starts to come up a replacement would be required as carpet wear will leave an oval mark there.

DO NOT…..let a bare iron touch the carpet!!! would be a good idea to have some cardboard or a board etc close by to set the iron on to prevent knocking it over onto the carpet while it is hot.

I have read a lot about how to put the new logo on but how do you get the old one off? Any information would be of help. The one on my boat is all faded and I would like to replace or repair ( use a dye pen) to make it look good again.ThanksJohn

If your flocking (felt) is faded we use a large (very large) Sanford brand aluminum tube marker. You know those gIANt ones with the tip thats 1/2″ or more broad. They do a great job! Otherwise the flocking is no longer available as the longevity does not meet our expectations. We really are not fond of any of the options for a logo in the carpet.

Anybody got a good pick of the vinyl logog on the carpet? I might do this on my boat.

A dumb question, but here goes. For BCB– Is the tube marker used to remove the logo as richstadler asked or to recolor the faded area? Where can the markers be purchased?
