Mine stayed pretty dry the last time I was out in the rain. Its made from some form of HDPE or UHMW plastic. So its not wood that will soak through. Just have to worry about the crack where the lid closes, thats all.13 PIV w/ 200 MercIG: WarriorRiverCustomRods

I replaced my middle seat with a carpeted step box last year. I have been out in some moderate rain with no significant amount of water getting inside. But as a precaution I have a couple of zip lock bags I keep in there.

I just replaced the middle seat in my Caracal with a carpeted step box. Its not meant to be waterproof, so Cape Fears idea of using a zip lock bag is spot on.

I do the same thing as Cape Fear and billius. Use zip lock bags for phone, keys and wallet.

Mine is fine until I try to “dump” the water in the cup holders, then it gets wet in there a little but not too bad. Believe it or not mine stays dry!! Ive been in some hard rain. Last hard rain it was my only storage that didnt get wet. Since though Ive fixed all areas that were SEEPING water. Maybe it hit or miss but mine stays dry. You”ll love it. My box has stayed dry for me so far. I removed my middle seat and put the carpet box in last year. I wont have another one without it.
