Parabolic rods often have a consistent flex ratio. The preference is not always parabolic as the action tends to be focused in mid sections. The rods should change radius or arc from the backbone through the tip, with loading in the tip for speed or strength. Though a parabolic rod has no differential tip actions. Thus a non parabolic action would work best for smaller baits and stick baits, whereas a carolina rig rod or a flipping stick would be more parabolic.
