The deans boat covers are not good traveling covers because they scratch and rub the boat.Ranger makes the best cover that i have seen. Does anybody know who makes a cover for a cat like the ranger cove?
We like the Aurora cover as it is the Sunbrella material and does not rub if properly installed. The tent styling also reduces drag, where the Ranger cover has pocketing and reduces fuel mileage. You do have to know how to install one though. BCB
With the Aurora cover if the straps are cinched up tight , there will be no flapping. With the wedge shape it trailers very well. I travel from NJ to FL multiple times a year with no issues. You just need to keep the straps tight. If its flapping pull over and tighten them up.
Ive had two Cats with Deans covers. They fit very well, but no matter how tight I got it, it always flapped and scratched the gel coat. Ive never had an Aurora cover. In reality, I quit towing with a cover several years ago. I did want a cover to put on the boat while at a motel, etc. So…I got a BCB dust cover for my CougarFTD. It works great and its much less in cost than an Aurora or a Deans.
all you have to do with the deans is go to walmart and get some cheap 1 dollar plastic wrap it takes 2 seconds to install and will protect your boat did mine when went to lake falcon from texarkana texas and not a scratch one
The ranger cover has two buckle ratchets that quick connect to the jack plate and one belly strap. It only takes about 45sec. to put it on and with the buckles it sucks down tight. This cover will not scratch and you dont have to deal with all those straps. If somebody would make a cover like this for cats they would get rich and make alot of people happy.
I have had both and currently My Deans has been replaced by BCB for miss-made and such. Im really not happy with the quality of the cover and to the fact that Me nor BCB can get them to make one propperly. They have miss sewing parts of it, have had delamination, and the replacemets have eather been made wrong or will not fit over the fortrex TM. Now keep in mind everything was listed right on the invoice from Deans so I know BCB have made the proper request for the order. I have even see wear marks that I didnt have with the Aurora with only three towings. If I could get a two peice aqualan (SP) I would had gone with Aurora. I only tow in rain with a cover so I want a dry type of cover. Eric BTW Im still currently waiting on my fourth cover from Deans…..
My last Aurora cover had ratchets on the back that were on cinch rope that went around the bottom of the cover. It still had straps as well but worked exceptionally well. If you want the ratchets all you have to do is call up Aurora and tell them that and they will make it.Mike
I found this over on BBC side. I am seriously considering a similar cover. Also, comes with 6 year warranty. I dont plan to trailer but at the same need to have weather related protection too. The fit looks impressive. Check out the pics. If you dont like it you can return it per Cabelas return policy. Check out the pics at bottom of the thread.http://www.bbcboards.net/zerothread?id=574182
i have a 2004 cougar ftd. rick pierce brought it to me with a deans cover. just the run from the plant to north ms(300 miles) left rub marks all over the cap. i am picky and was not happy. he replaced it with an aurora cover. it was the difference in day and night. the only issue for me with the aurora cover is the maze of straps at the rear of the hull that it take to get it set up properly. i have since heard that this has improved. the aurora cover is heavy but it is lined and very soft underneath. so…….no scratches or rubs.phil leadford
