Caught me a biggun and I let her go

I just had to brag a little bit. I spent the morning on Toledo Bend just trying to catch a few. I ended up only catching one but what a heck of one it was. I was chunking a Norman DD 14 into 4-5 of water while sitting in 10. I felt a fish swat at the bait and kept cranking. I saw what I thought was a carp or a drum race up and slam my bait. When I got it a little closer to the boat I realized it was a heck of a bass, and there was another one just like it following. My 15 yr old nephew did a heck of a job netting the fish for me. We tried for a while to catch the second one. We even left and came back with no luck. I took a bunch of pics and proceeded to Toledo Town and Tackle (our local tackle shop and certified scales). They weighed her at 8.12 lbs. I took her back to the lake and released her under my dock. My Sabres livewell did a great job of keeping the fish healthy for a good release. I did use Catch and Release and ice to do the best I could to treat the fish with the respect it deserves. Good for you, its what fishing is all about! Catching a fish that big gets your heart thumping and I am glad you were able to put her back ! Over the weekend I caught an 11 lb. blue cat on a wacky worm, go figure!!

Nice catch, this is the guy from LA I talked to with about the P4 in Wisconsin. I hope to be going this weekend to get it. Bryan.

Thanks for the comments guys. Im sure you can tell by the smile on my face that I am pretty happy. My nephew and I made another trip that evening and hit a good school of fish on a point. We probably caught 10 fish in 30 minutes from 10inches up to 3pounds all on the Norman DD22 crankbait. I was using a shad pattern and he was throwing a crawfish color. It was all fun until he had a fish flop and stick him with a treble hook. We had to shut it down and go do some surgery on the dock. It all worked out fine and he wanted to go back fishing. I think hes hooked. Hey, Bryan. Yep thats me. I live over by Holly Park and went out a few night ago and ended up with 1-71/2, 1-61/2, 2 at 51/2. That was a great night. They turned on for about an hour then that was it.
