Bass Cat – just bought a 2014 Cougar FTD from Missouri and I live in Ohio. I need a certificate of origin for the trailer to get trailer tags — or I will have to take the boat off and get the trailer officially weighed and certified. If I give you the trailer serial number would you be able to send me a certificate of origin? I think the department of motor vehicles is looking for something with the official weight of the trailer. Thank you.

I had to get a title for the Mercury on the back of my p4,I owned a skeeter for 7 years that was a staff boat-and never had a title for the Yamaha on it.ohio is weird,you know its all about revenue.

Yes MSO is what I need. And I agree I dont know if its a pain in other states but Ohio does not make it easy to buy a used boat from another state… In the end, its worth it though : )I ended up dropping the boat off in the lake and let my buddy fish with it for 2 hours while I took the trailer to a certified scale… yeah my buddy got to fish out of my new to me boat before I did..

For future reference…This is for BOAT TITLES ONLY. I havent been able to find a list for trailer or outboard titling states but if I run across one Ill post it.Some states will require trailer titles, or outboard motor titles while others do not even title the boat.
