.A friend has been after me to make the trip north to fish with him around South Hero and north. Finally made it Thursday on a flat calm day (a rare beast) and we wrecked them. We caught 30 -35 SM all on top water. What a freaking ball. My bud got more then twice as many as what I caught but I got the lunker a 5 pound even SM. I saw it annihilate my bait. We had several large 4’s and more large 3 then we could count. Was a great time. What you hear about north Champlain is true. Our best five went 22-23 lbs. Again, all on top water!!! I fished south lake yesterday from 12:30 to 4:30 and managed a dozen. Had a limit and 15.1 by 1:30. The fall bite is starting to finally happen.
