Im going to look @ 05 classic 2.5/efi200.. What kind of #s can expect?? Can you please tell me your set-up. Thank you for your help!! slimm
Of course the numbers will vary greatly depending on the boats setup. I would say 70-72 mph is a very reasonable expectation as far as top speed. The 2.5 200s are a little weak on the bottom end but if set up properly they will come out of the hole just fine. You will be very pleased with the all around performanc of this rig and an extra bonus is that for an efi it is very efficient. Pretty easy on the gas. I run a 2001 model classic with a 2.5 200 and have great performance. I run a 25″ trophy prop most of the time and find it to give the best all around performance. There were some changes to the Hull and layout of the interior from mine to the one you are going to check out. You will probably see a slightly better hole shot due to gas tank placement and may see a very small decrease in top speed. I hope you like what you see and after you look at it come back and let us know what you think. We may be able to answer a few questions that you will undoubtedly have. Chris have you tried a Fury yet?? I was wondering how it would perform.. Everyone is saying that it helps on the hole shot.. Slimm
We prefer the Trophy on this application. The Fury will run, though you might run better with a Trophy. BCB Admin.
Slimm, I have not run a fury yet. I just havent gotten my hands on one and dont want to spend the money on another prop. I already have 4 and my lovely Wife would not appreciate a 5th. Here is a list of the props I have run. 25 Temptest— This one came with the boat with great all around performance, just not quite as good as a trophy. Top end in the 73-74 mph range and good overall handling. Decent hole shot. 23 Temptest— Talk about a rocket out of the hole, just turn it too much on top end and a top speed of only 68mph 26 Trophy— Great prop, very fast on top, great handling just a little too slow out of the hole 28 Trophy— Wanted to try it for a top end run, Light load and cool temps ran 78.2 mph on top. Could not fish with it, no hole shot at all 26 mazco re4— one of my favorites, top end in the 76 mph range with killer midrange. Great when light but again, no hole shot when loaded 28 mazco re4— This was the one I bought to go play with all my gear out of the boat. It would shock some folks to see that little 2.5 liter 200 pushing that big bass cat at 78 mph. Winded up selling this one to get my hydromotive. 26 Chopper— Pretty fast and smooth, just no hole shot. Too much ventilation 25″ balllistic— Not as good as trophy or temptest in any category 26 hydromotive quad IV-X OB— Probably my best all around prop, great top end, midrange is ridiculous and hole shot is acceptable. Only problem is I hate to run it and mess it up. Its a $650 prop and noone around here really wants to work on it. I have used it quite a bit and its a gem. Great performance. It will take turns and rough water better than any other. 25 turbo txp— not good!!! 25 Trophy— right there with the Hydromotive and it only cost me $350. From hole shot to mid range to top end to rough water performance this prop is my all around “get-r-dun” prop. Runs great with all loads and only has one draw back. That is loading onto the trailer it bogs a little, but, youll get used to that. So if you dont want to spend an arm and a leg on props and you are willing to take the advice of someone who has spent thousands of dollars playing with this, Get you a 25 trophy or 25 temptest and enjoy your boat. That is what BCB suggests and If I had listened to them almost 9 years ago I would have saved alot of money. However, I did enjoy playing with my boat that much. Its nice knowing I got all I could out of it and left nothing on the table. Hope this helps. Chris Coupel Paulina, La.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.
