It was refreshing to see Ike fishing from an un-wrapped BassCat. It would be great (but highly unlikely) to see them go back to plain boats I work in marketing, and I completely understand why BASS insists on wraps for the Elite Anglers, but, even though I understand it, I still say theres a better model there somewhere. I hate those wraps. The boats identity is lost and BASS holds the privilege of identity hostage by requiring the wraps, in a sense. The BASS boat sponsors get lots of mention, but at first glance to the average spectator the boats and models that their favorite anglers drive cant be told apart. (Not so with Bass Cat fans – we know a Cat when we see one!) I know thats a discussion thats been hashed over a thousand times, but like you, it stood out to me to see Iaconelli switching to the unwrapped Cat and that stirred these thoughts again. But at least its not the old days – where all Classic competitors were required to drive an R boat.
