Im looking at pantera classic with a 200efi mercury, and was wondering what kind of speeds to expect. Another question I would have is would be, is how well does the classic handle the wind while fishing?

well if its a 3.0 L EFI they are one of the faster 200 every made by mercury from what i know. very dependable. if its a 2.5 L EFI there still great but the low end out the hole is not as good. and the top end might be a 1-2 mph slower but not much to lose sleep over. i just got out of a sabre this summer and the classic is a great boat fishing in the wind, alot better then the sabre anyways .

I have a classic with a 2.5L EFI and with my tackle and me I see 71-72mph consistently but with my buddy that weighs close to 300 pounds and his tackle I normaly get about 67mph, I am sure there are things I could do to get a little more speed but for now I am fine.Prop and things like that will be a major factor with speed. And about the wind, I fish Rayburn and Toledo alot and the wind blows there all the time (unless I am not fishing) and my boat handles it great, there are times I wish I had a Cougar, but for a 19 boat it does great.

moore1 what prop are u running. iam running a 25 tempest on a 09 classic with a 09 opitmax . with hydjack plate. i wannt to try a trophy what pitch should i got with. ant others have a trophy and is so what pitch

I have an 04 Classic w/ smaller 200 EFI. The hole shot is not bad, but its not as good as my old boat. It is still very acceptable though. My speed varies depending on load and time of year. Cooler water obviously is faster and I can expect around 71-72. Summertime around 67-68 mph. These speeds are at 5800 RPMs & water pressure 15-17 psi. I have never played with the setup to gain more speed. The boat is probably one of the best 19 footers for handling rough water and wind. It is really a fun boat to drive and fish out of. I highly recommend one. It been my favorite boat so far.

I am running a 25 pitch Trophy, I tried a 25 Tempest and actually ran about 3 mph slower.I have a manual plate, and have never adjusted it, but Steve at Steves custom Props said he could tweak it for a little more speed.

I hate to be stupid but honestly I dont know, all my prop work is done at Steves Custom Props and Eric Wendeborn at Garys Marine does all my mechanic work.I need to start asking more questions.

How do you know if its the 2.5 or 3.0?

the 30L is alot biger in size. then a 2.5L but if your not sure take the cowling off and there will be a engine tag usaly on the front sdie of theengine in the intake, it willl tell u , some times its in ccs but i will find out 2500 cc or 3032cc or what ever the numbers are cant reabmer off the top of my head
