Cleaning bits and pieces out of live wells

I used the search feature and couldnt find what I was looking for. How do you guys clean out bits and pieces of yacked up bait fish and crawfish out of the live wells? My live wells dont completely drain, theres like an inch of water in the very bottom and there are some bits and pieces of bait fish in there. Not really keen on reaching in there with my hand and getting it out, but that might be my only options. I have always used a wet/dry vac to clean it out. Then I just rinse out the livewell and the shp vac tank with a hose.

I honestly didnt want this stink in my shop vac either.

reach down in there with your hands and get it out. if youre scared of some dead shad, dead perch, dead crawfish then use some rubber gloves or a rag. if you dont want to stink up your rubber gloves, then use a vacuum cleaner. if you dont want to stink up your vacuum you might be SOL.

I got them out, but boy, they were ripe. I used an old aquarium fishnet. I had large crawdad in there from a SEBCOG event. Didnt find it till it was too late. Oh Phil, I aint skeered. I deal with human blood and guts everyday at work, but rarely are they quite this ripe.

I use a shop vac. I raise the nose of the boat up. Open the livewell control valve. Rinse the wells real good. Let it drain.Than Vac the remaining pieces out. The Shop vac is rinsed after and let dry. Never smells. I keep my Livewells spotless.

Might I suggest a little more TIMELY cleaning out of your livewells ??? — It only stinks if you let it rot . — I learned a valuable lesson about livewell cleaning / inspection after EVERY use . — Years back , my son and I caught a mess of white bass , which we took home to cook . — I let him get the fish out while I filleted . — He missed one !! — After a few days in the garage , all closed up , you can only imagine the stinking mess I had to clean up !! — Lesson learned !! — CLEAN LIVEWELLS IMMEDIATELY AFTER USE !!! — Hoss
