Recently, at coffee, I mentioned something about a recent post that had to do with lightly scuffing the hull for more speed. The questions and comments are to numerous to mention. But…..if you sand the hull, (I have no intention of doing this) do you sand it from front to back or side to side, or circular? Secondly, has anyone ever heard of lightly bead blasting the prop to achieve the same affect as scuffing the hull? Curosity will not kill this Cat. Martin

I have heard that too. The theory has something to do with reducing the drag arising from the surface tension created on a slick surface. For the same reason a slight chop on the water is faster than smooth and slick. Like you I wont do either of them just to gain a little speed. Deke[font=&QUOT]Deke[/font]

Sanding is done with the pad, and bead blasting the propeller is only the trailing cup edge. Not to reduce surface tension, though to add bite. BCB

Having my prop reworked a little and the tech put a machined finish on the blades because there will probably be a little more work. He said some of the bass boat guys like them that way – because it adds more bite.

The correct direction to sand would be side to side.
