Please all Cougar FTD owners let me know what you think of this boat for performance, ride, over all confort. Did anybody do any special sent ups for there boat?

I had a 2006 CougarFTD and now have a 2009 CougarFTD. It is an awesome machine. It rides great, handles rough water quite well and has 80mph capabilities or a bit more with a 250 engine and an experienced driver. And most importantly, it is an excellent fishing platform. Tons of storage, more than you will need.

Had an 08, 11, and have a 13 in production right now. Great mix overall of everything. I suspect the Puma gives you the same characteristics with a different layout of the top cap. I can speak to the Cougar and say that there is nothing about the layout I dont like.My opinion, dont get either of the 20 hulls without a hydraulic plate. Maybe there is a sweet spot to be found with a static plate, but I move mine a lot. I have had Detweiler and liked it, but am trying an Atlas this time. No real reason and I dont think one is better than the other.Get the dual blinker style trim/jackplate controls and hotfoot.Get the middle step box for between the seats. Unless you are going to routinely have 3 people on board.Get the grab pole for the trailer. This is an awesome innovation.Besides the other stuff that you might want for any boat (Hambys, stereo, specialized electronics, etc), these are the things I wouldnt be without with a Cougar FTD. I have an 05 Cougar FTD. I agree with VTBassCat assessment of the Cougar. I had a 93 Pantera II and moved up to the Cougar in 07 (yes I bought a used Cat).I had the third seat an just traded it out for the step box and like it much better. I have a 225 Opti Pro XS I wish I had the 250 but the 225 will push me along in the high 60s (the way I usually have the boat loaded down with gear, gas and partner) to low 70s just me and a little gear and half the gas. I have a hydraulic jack plate with the dual blinker controls and now that I have one Ill always have one on my boat. My boat has plenty of storage room but none in the back (other than engone compartment). They changed that design in 2008. In fact thats why the guy sold me his two year old boat with only 85 hours on the engine, he wanted the back storage and the tringular live wells lids.I agree the step bar is a great invention. Mine did not have one (I dont think it was offered then) so I bought an aftermarket one called Easy Step. Hambys is a must.I like the deck layout of the Cougar FTD over the Puma . A friend of mine has a 07 Puma and he likes his deck layout. To each his own.Youll like the Cougar!

I have a 2013 cougar ftd . I like the front deck layout an storage better than the puma I had. I made a divider down the center of the big open box to better suit my needs. The box is deep that I installed the cooks tackle system around the top of 1/2 the box. Ride an performance is great! Its seams the same as 2011 puma ftd. I like the hydro plate with the new tm foot. This foot will give you great psi anywhere you run it. I run a 26 & 27 fury which may not be the best prop with the new foot, Im still playing with that but so far seems foot likes to be run high an the fury likes to be run lower. Will run 78 anywhere on plate, 2 spots that 80+. Be sure if you get poles to get2, get hamby, get good gauges, get a minn Kota ( IMO ), get step an pole on trailer. Nothing not to like. Boat drives good . I also like the step box.

I have a 2010 cougar ftd, and love it. Best fishing platform I have ever fished out of. Also handles the big water amazing.
