I am just really getting to know my 08 Cougar FTD 250Pro XS combo – through the last part of breakin and into its first 15 hours of life, its been great! Ive been playing with setup and have noticed a few things that im sure you call can confrim. They are the following… Cats are fast! With limited seat time combined with my experience behind my old 198 Champion and fathers Allison 2003 the boat is very pretictable. To give my best example – its a combo between an Allison and a Champion. Quick and reponsive like an Allison, yet stable and easy to fish out of like a Champion. Its the best of both worlds. Cats are safe! I have never ridden in a boat that is as happying going, and holding 25mph or less, as a Cat. Yet the boat will run deep into the 70s feeling much as it does around 25-40mph. You dont have to run the boat wide open to get a good ride out of it. Cats are user friendly! My old 198 liked a lot of trim to run in the 70s. This boat does not like trim. Im running my best between 5 and 6 degrees of trip, and 1 to a little above one on the jack plate. Best so far has been 78.9. Question: What set up works the best for you? Trim degree? Jack Plate height? Prop? Anyone running a Furry?

Im running the Fury (26) on my Cougar FTD. Got to really run it for the first time with a full load (360# partner, full fuel, spare tm & Prop and about 300# of tackle) and it will run 76.2 gps. Im pretty sure there was more there, but I was busy trying to find all of the channel markers so I didnt get all there was. Im really impressed with the Fury. Itll also push the boat up on the trailer at any ramp Ive been to.

Depends…if you want full out speed it is going to be hard to beat the 27 Trophy but all around performance and holeshot will lean towards the 26 Trophy. I have both and have settled on the 26 for now but once it cools down I will go back to the 27. Last fall/winter I saw 80 twice loaded with 1/2 tanks of fuel and partner loaded to tournament fish. Day in and day out it will run 78-79 with the 27 and 76-77 w/ the 26. I played a little with the Fury but not enough to really make a judgement on them except they have a lot of the characteristics of the 3 blade like Scott mentioned about loading to needing to drive it more on the upper end. Ran a 26 Fury this weekend on my Puma FTD. Ran 79.5 with two people, 35 gallons of fuel, and tackle. Didnt even try to raise the jack plate (hydraulic). Could have had another .5 mph in it and it may not. By the way, that was in the heat of the day in Texas. Best speed Ive seen thus far is with a stock 28 Trophy, but Ive got a little hole shot work to do on the prop and didnt have the time to play with it this weekend. That speed was 80.5 and feel like there might be another .5 mph in it as well. They will all run better when the weather cools and the humidity drops! I see 82+ out of mine this Jan./Feb. If you like hole shot and acceleration without much sacrifice on the top end the Fury 26 is the prop to get. If you like top end speed and handling, then the Trophy. It seems though initially theres not much difference between prop to prop in the Fury series!
