There is na considerable difference in the price of these rigs. Since you are often going to a 250 on the larger boat and a 200 on the P4, that is right at $5k more alone. The ride of those two is very close with the edge going to the Puma, and the speed going to the Cougar FTD.BCB
Just guessing……………….approximately 3-4K with a 225approximately 4-5 with a 250No noticeable difference in the FTD and Puma.
Boat was at shop for 4 weeks for a warranty issue. Get in it 997 clear out of the loading page. My horn doesnt work when I push button it just clicks hit security button same thing just a clicking noise. Had a new lower unit put on and was fishing tourny on big G Yesterday in and out of grass all day but I religously check my water pee before I leave an area. Water flowing out well take off my digital water pressure from smart craft gauge says 28.7 and my Dial gauge says 30PSI so Im tooling down river and Over Heat alarm goes off. Set her down and look no Pee. Is water pressure of mesuare of water coming into the lower unit? not output. If its reading high PSI is it possible a water pump? welcome to my world any answers would be appreciated. Its an 08 Puma with 250 Pro XS.
Never seen anything like that happen on a BC trailer–it is not normal wear and tear in my opinion.
I only know the answer to #3. Grind the welds down as thin as you can that are still holding, then take a wedge and drive it under the post and break the welds off. Grind the old welds down flush and also clean the post up good and weld it back down with 3/32 7018 rods. Then repaint. Those old welds was done with a Mig and obviously it didnt penatrate the square plate. It probably had mill scale on it when it was welded or there heat wasnt set right. Mig guns dont like mill scale or any kind of dirt, paint, etc.Last edited by Mainliner61 on June 2nd, 2014, 11:05 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Orange wire might be extra hot wire for accessories. Check for power. And I agree with the above post, it needs to be fixed properly. Cut off & re-welded on.13 PIV w/ 200 MercIG: WarriorRiverCustomRods
Contact BCB with your trailer serial number so they can conduct some quality assurance as needed. The trailer wire bundle will have to be protected during the repair and the area will need to be repainted and retreated with Gator Hyde. Not a quick fix. The boat wiring harness may have wire runs for options that your boat may not have installed.Practice Angling CPRCatchPictureRelease2010 PIV 200SHO
We believe that orange wire is the accessory switch in the console. The trolling motor mount is accessible either through the front panel or anchor box. Some are not accessible through the anchor box. The weld obviously looks like penetration was missed on the back and starboard sides, and while we dont know what year yur rig is we do believe Service will participate in the repair if you are the registered owner of record and depending on how old it is. Bay Cats started about 2003 on production models and they should have a formula for this type situation.
I agree, its definitely a bad weld. Seen enough in my day. Needs to be cleaned up and straightened and then rewelded. Not that big of a deal for a good hand. Dont forget to protect your wiring.

Is this a repair a dealer could do (closest is Greens Boat bout and hour and half away) or could I find a local welder to handle it?
Local body shop or welding shop. A body shop with a good welding hand could handle both paint and weld. Most body shops do not have the best welders (sorry body guys) and then some are good. They seldom do large welding projects and dont get to practice.
Another option is to do a google search for “custom trailers north Carolina”, and you will find places that build and repair trailers as their business. These folks should have solid welding skills, and know about trailer wiring. Since your trailer is black, they should be able to paint it as well. The only thing you will need to do is possibly get new pin striping.
