FROM BBC BOARD!!!!!!!!!!! BETTER LOCKEM UP!!!!!!!! Just got back for a trip at Toledo Bend and not only was the fishing very tough, but Sat. night their was a huge boat break in. About 20 boats were hit. I was very fortunate that I took most of my rods out of the boat. I only had two left in there. The two guys were there with had 3 rods stolen. There were at least a dozen other boat with a ton of equipment stolen. They knew exactly what they were doing as they only went through the rod lockers of all the boats. I had mine locked so they destroyed the locks to get into my boat. Good thing I did not wake up. It would have been a mess for the police to clean up. Just wanted to send a warning out. If you are going to the Bend, take all your stuff out of the boat. next time, I think I will empty the rod lockers and just leave them open. skipLast edited by SAMRUSH on October 26th, 2009, 1:48 am, edited 3 times in total.BAYOU BANDIT
The word of advice here should be if you dont want it stolen then take it out of the boat! Happens everywhere in the country!
Them East Texas crack heads are at it again. Got my rods ripped off along with 7 others at Rayburn. Got me one of these –> http://www.bassboatalarm.com/ It will wake the dead and also sounds an alarm in the room. I mounted it to a short seat post that also has a rubber top on it that supports my boat cover up front. I had to adjust the sensitivity so you could even get close to the boat. It went off once at Falcon I was parked second boat in from the end of the parking lot. When it went off I looked outside and it was set off because the boat next to me had the cover partly off and they must have gotten to close to mine or bumped my boat. That guy was very thankful I had it.
Where on Toledo Bend were you? This seem to be a growing problem.
It really sucks that we have such a great lake and we have some sorry a** people that take advantage of those coming to enjoy it. I know it is not just Toledo Bend but since Toledo Bend is my home I take it personally.Jim EbarbMany, LA (Toledo Bend Lake)2004 Cougar/ 225 OptimaxHumminbird Helix 12 Chirp SI on BalzOut Mount at bowLowrance HDS 7 at bowHumminbird Helix 12 Mega SI on Ram Mount at ConsoleLowrance HDS 8 in dash at console
Boat, truck, hotel room,,,all the same. A thief will take advantage of anything easily offered to him, and understands nothing except the drugs hes on at the time. These guys gotta be on crack hitting bass boats in Texas and Louisiana. If they get caught theyll never steal anything again. Where could they poaaibly be moving all that gear ?
This happened to a group from town in March at Bridge Bay. They took everything some of the guys had. They stole one of the boats that was in the stall in the water and ran across to the texas side with all the gear they snagged. My club went the next week and didnt have any problems but we were ready for them. I parked my boat right next to our bedroom window and left the window cracked open so if my boat alarm went off I could grab my 9 mm that was by my head and try to stop these bastards. Of course they wont come when you are ready and it sounds like they are doing this every few months or so. Bridge Bay is such a great place to stay but it sounds like if they dont take the steps to clean this up they will be loosing alot of business!! Chris Coupel Paulina, La.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.
Word is that Fork is being hit pretty hard right now as well. Has anyone heard reports about trailers being stolen? I understand that they are stealing trailers from parking lots, selling them for scrap. You not only have to lock the trailer hitch, but the trailer ball as well. Hard times make people desparate.
My boat was hit at Truman Lake in Missouri in July! Luckily this RING was under surveillance already! Thanks to the Missouri State Water Patrol and luckily having my name on my rods I was able to get all but 6 Rods back and most of my crankbaits…Since then I take the extra time every night and morning to unload/reload all my tackle in and out of the boat. It is a shame what this world has come to. Unfortunately this is a reality that we all must deal with.
