After breaking two Falcon Deep Runner rods I am looking for another rod to throw big crank baits. I live in Bayou Country so I dont use them often. I have seen some people use a 76″ heavy action rod . What do yall use ? I am looking to stay under $200 .Last edited by jigging on July 29th, 2010, 1:45 am, edited 1 time in total.

I have tried ALOT of deep crankin rods… My favorite is the Quantum 710 KVD crankin rod. I believe they sell for 149.00 and well worth it.

I broke one on Lake Falcon and one on Toledo Bend , both times hung up same exact break and believe it or not I was not being real aggressive. I have 13 other falcon rods and never broke one just the deep runner . James at Falcon Tackle gave me my money back beings it was the same day I bought it , I ordered this one and cant find my receipt and Falcon said they want take it without one .

For the money, the ugly Skeet Reese rods arent a bad way to go. I recently purchased one, and so far Im pleased with it. Only time will tell.

I am an avid deep cranker and the rod i use is shimmano crucial 7 11 medium x fast and works very well. it is also lifetime warranty cause i have broke a few for stupid reasons. I think they run about 159.00 thanks

I also am the kinda person to throw a 6xd all day just to get away from everyone.I prefer glass first of allSecondly you need a light rod to tolerate that all day which isnt easy to find in a glass rod.I greatly prefer the Powell glass rods- 765 glass is the way Id go. Its the only one Ive seen that is light enough to be thrown all day and has enough tip to be useful. Good blanks have thin walls and are subsequently light but like youve experience cant be unreliable. Id go to a good tackle store and put a bunch of glass rods in your hands and judge weight versus length, versus action(where it flexes), versus power(backbone) and decide. C.O.D. Jr. III

Bass Cat pro, John Crews, designed a deep cranking rod for JB Custom Rods out of North Carolina called “The Missile.” The rod is 710″ and is awesome.
