Ive never secured the deck extension on my 01 P-III. There were two types of deck extensions available at that time, one with a waterproof compartment/box, the other with no compartment, just a deck platform with a seat pole hole allowing you the ability to drop and secure a seat pole in the floor below the deck extension.The deck extension with waterproof box was heavy enough for me not to need to secure it or worry about it ever blowing out, and it hasnt since 2001!
