Looking for Feedback,,,,I am going to ask this and it may have already been covered on here before now. Sometimes I am on the slow side but I get there. Which type unit is better to have on the console a down imaging unit or a side imaging unit? And then the same question for up front. Thanks in Advance for your thoughts and input.

I use the side imaging at the console HDS10/LSS and downimaging screen overlayed on 2d on the bow HDS8/LSS .

Mike, are you running a LSS1 on your trolling motor? Or using the LSS on the transom for down imaging?

Ill never own a boat without side imaging again. Its the single best tool Ive ever seen for quickly spotting changes in bottom composition, weedlines, hard bottom areas within weed beds, rock piles, submerged timber…its just incredible. Down imaging is a great tool for getting a clear picture of whats right under you (or close to it). Both types are useful in both locations, but I use SI more at the console and DI more at the bow.

I run a separate LSS unit and transducer on the front and back, I try to fish a lot of offshore rockpiles and having the downimage showing exactly whats underneath is helpful. Im really interested in the spotlight scan, but Ill wait a while and upgrade to a touch unit on the bow so I wont need the sonar hub.Last edited by mike dominick on March 25th, 2014, 8:57 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Why not both? With the new modles hitting the market the older ones that are on the shelves are priced to go. If you dont mind not having the newest modle you can upsize your purchase and stay in your budget. That means getting two DI/SI units …. one for the dash and one for the bow…. Enjoy your shopping.
