Does anyone know why Detweiler jack plates turn gray on the part that is in the water and if their is anything that will clean them. Thanks

I believe I saw a post where Tideman told SamRush what would get it off of there. I wish I could remember or would have written it down. I dont have one but my Dads is doing that also. There is nothing out there to remove it. The jack plate is anodized black and the nutrients in some waters will turn it gray. The gray can be masked by spraying WD 40 or some other light lubricant on top of it. In order to keep the black color below the water line is make sure you wipe it off once the boat is removed from the water.

There is no repairing that other than to restain it with some form of an ink, like a magic marker ink. It is the anodizing on the aluminum breaking down and the aluminum showing through. BCB

MINE GETS SPRAYED WITH THE ABOVE AFTER EVERY TRIP AND IT HAS NOT OXIDIZED AS OF YET……TOLEDO IS THE MAN…….PHIL YOU JUST HUSH………ROBIN
