Detwiller 8 inch plate not working

so it suddenly stopped

I have power to the gauge and the relay seems to work as it clicks and I swapped it with my trim and it worked there

cam someone walk me through what to do to test it

also can my hydro plate be manually adjusted in the mean time

fyi it Hasn t moved from the setting it was when it stopped

What year is the boat/jack plate?

I’ve got a 2006 and had something similar happening with mine.. I’m not sure when Seastar took over, but I know the first generation (so to speak) had some issues with the seals and o rings.

With that said, I had that happen with mine and had a leak I never noticed. Filled it back up with some Transmission Fluid and have been good ever since. I haven’t had the chance to actually take the time to replace the seals/o rings yet but in due time.

We think a 2010 was still a plate we bought through Mercury Marine parts and was the third ownership of Detwiler. The pump on the third generation Owned Detwiler was the 125 Mercury trim system and should be easily found.

The SeaStar moved immediately to the same style pump in their manufacture. They also ended marketing through Mercury and went direct. We continue to really like the SeaStar Plate, though support has been dropped on older versions. They just cost too much to service, maintain parts and work on for the cost of a new plate.

I had the same exact issue on my ‘04 P4. Took the plate off and sent it back to them. $500.00 later it was new with the mercury trim pump. This thing has functioned flawlessly since. I actually prefer this jack plate over all others. I hope Sea Star makes it work long term. IMHO this is the best jack plate. If I couldn’t have this one, I would go back to a manual plate on my next boat.

Sea Star took over in 2012 and went to the Sea Star design in 2015.

I sent mine back in 2015, this is the 4th season on the rebuilt plate. Absolutely rock solid, and money well spent.
