Topic: Do you really need a transom saver?

Hey guys, I have a 2019 Pantera Classic, and just busted the side out of my transom saver, I had a lot of side to side movement, and was tightening it down a tad to much I believe, I bought some of the TH marine things that stop the side to side movement, but was told I didn’t really need the transom saver, I was gonna hold out until motor mate makes there’s for the new pro xs, is it safe to haul it for a little while without it?

I would not make a single trip without some type of motor support for my 200 4S. There are several options, including the DD26 and the Toterite. The Motor Mate for the Opti can be used with a simple modification of the end caps, and apparently Motor Mate will actually do the mod for you. The Toterite is the only one that does not require steering clips to be used.

None of the above actually attach to the trailer roller. I know that BCB only recommends those that do. I use a standard transom saver and steering clips.

The Gator Back steering clips are very good as they have handles that make them easy to remove.

I use the one supplied by bc with the boat and the th marine steer stops

That’s what I was using, but like I said, it busted and I was going to have to buy another, someone told me I didn’t really need one, which was hard for me to believe. I did order the tote rite wendsday evening

I use the normal motor-toter type device and have for 40+ years now. I don’t use clips as my silver steer cylinder doesn’t have enough leakage to let the motor tilt to the side, over a 500 mile non-stop tow.
