Lookin for any that has done any long runs in a puma ftd n a 250sho….Tourny comin up n im looking at maybe tryin to do 150+ miles round trip with her loaded as light as possible by myself. Figure on not runnin more than 72-74 to help a little…..Can she make it???

3.2 x 48 = 153.6You can improve that around 4,800 to 5,000 RPM and have a little cushion.

Rick if we talking RR u got current and lock issues too. Id make the run in person first. Locks are 0 mpg. Have done 120 in a cougar ae with 225 proxs – hammer down, two guys, stuck on sandbar, etc. no problem.Last edited by clownshoes on August 4th, 2013, 2:01 am, edited 1 time in total.C.O.D. Jr. III

Ive run 98 miles GPS and maps on ONE. 25 tank of fuel upriver (Mississippi river – into 5-7 mph current) FULLY loaded heavy with partner, live wells full, full fuel and oil two power poles four batteries, etc etc. it cant be that much difference between my 250 pro XS and that hammer. Set the cruise on 55 mph you will be fine.

Ward, not RR, Ouachita. Very little current as they was things stand and no locks, Just running to one. I may run 1/2 way nxt week and see where she falls. Always fun fishin the rivers but it will make you wish u could disengage ur hotfoot and use hand throttle!!! Thanks all and BCB for the math!!!

Shell make it. Made a run the same distance last year in my puma ftd and sho. I kept the rpm around 5000 and only ran wot for about 15 miles of the trip. The boat was loaded and I had a partner so you should be good to go. Get the yamaha outboard app if you have a smart phone. They have a performance bulletin in it and will give you an idea of how it will perform and mpg at different rpm ranges

Back a few years when B.A.S.S. still held Opens on Champlain, Ike made the run from Plattsburg to Benson which is maybe 5 miles south of Ti with his Puma/SHO and was one of the few who didnt stop for Fuel at our marina. He made a lot of stop and starts running short distances too when fishing ( I was following and after awhile Id just use trolling motor to keep up cause he didnt go that far). From the speed he went by in the morning I think he was well above 5000 RPM too! Unless he fueled somewhere else I think he made run on what he left Plattsburg with. Round trip would have been 160 mile minimum.

Hmmm….OK Todd, You hit me low in my weak spot….Gonna have to go to plan B….Burn water n still catch fish! Gonna go to “MY OLE BOUEY” and put a light on it Friday before tourney and mark it 5 times on my gps!! lol!! Did you notice just out of “coincidence” top 3 guys in the club at the moment are runnin BCB? Just thinkin if im a fish gettin caught Id want to ride in a sweet boat and big livewell…Maybe more to fishin than lures n line u think? If we dont get rain gonna be tough. Another club gonna be on Louie same day as well…Wonder how far it is to the red??
