Im torn on the dual console issue….. I have the console mock mounted in my PII and cant make up my mind if I want it in or out. I like the looks better with out but it is nice for your buddy. I think it takes away so much room and deck usage options but the extra storage would sure be nice. decisions decisions decisions!!! What to do. I think if a quick change model was available that would be totally awesome. Phoenix offers it and its very well built with quality hardware. In 5 minutes or less its in or out.
Go single. Youll really like the extra floor space! Who cares about your buddy? lol I dont have a dual console and one of my buddies showed up one early March morning w/ shorts on. Prior to getting in the boat he mentioned that it was a little nippy. I asked him if he brought any long pants and he said that he didnt. I told him he would pay. Im sure hell remember next time to bring some clothes since he got him a ride at 80 for about 5 miles with nothing but shorts on. When I stopped, I asked him if he was cold.As far as a quick disconnect console…………….Im sure if it worked Rick would have done incorporated it. Nice concept, but what is the reliability in big rough water over several years?
I have always had a double on all my boats except for one old Cajun back in the mid-70s. I guess I have just gotten use to it being there and have no issue with it. I does make it nice if you fish with a partner and you fish year round like most of do. I know is some draw events where I have drawn out with a stranger, most have loved the console to get behind in rain or cold. It is one of the freedoms we enjoy in the county. It is your “choice”.
Single console and youll never look back.
I was going to add a 2nd console for when my wife wanted to just go for a ride. She heard the price, and said never mind…. I did buy a Save Phace with the intent of giving it to a passenger if it was raining or cold. I can hide behind the windshield for the most part. Hadnt planned on using it for myself but turns out it is pretty handy when raining for me too.
I wouldnt have a dual console, they are in the way, I use that area as my target to flip my fish in. If its cold tell them to man up or lay in the floor, they should be prepared for the weather.
To each his own. Depends on if you fish by your self and if not if you care about your partner. For me, it has always been a dual console. My wife and partners sure appreciate it!! I have ridden as a passenger in way to many single console boats for my liking!!!Scott
My last BCB was a single, the one I have now is a dual, and my next one will be a dual.
Try and decide. The folks on here give great advice but this is a matter of what is best for you. Weigh the pros and cons listed and see what best fits your style. This is my first cat (love it) and first single. The only thing I miss is the glove box and I made a storage tray in the driver side rod locker for that “stuff”. Only way I would go back to dual is if my now 5 year old daughter decides she loves to fish and wants to go rain or shine. Again, that is the only way I would go back. Issay is right, no comparison in fishability and a grown man can handle the weather. I fish all year and keep an extra rain suit in the boat for someone that comes unprepared. The wife is a fair weather fan and wont be out if it is cold or real threat of bad conditions. The occasional “get caught out in it” is not worth having something in the way the other 98% of the time. Just my opinion, no disrespect to those who prefer two; you have valid reasons as well.
