I dont know if this a really dumb idea or not, but I was thinking today. SI sonar technology is likely to become a bigger and bigger player in the electronics market in the near future. With improvements to the technology and lower costs to produce I think its fair to say that the well equipped fisherman will have it soon. Im not an engineer and have no idea how difficult it would be but if it was feasible, wouldnt it be smart for a boat company to design into there hulls the ability to accommodate a thru hull SI transducer? From what HB told me, its not a transducer problem but a hull design problem. The way hulls are contoured and molded, they deflect the SI signals. If it was doable, wouldnt it differentiate a hull from the competition if you could put a single thru hull SI transducer on it that could be used at all speeds instead of two?I saw today that they have a transducer that you have to completely drill through the hull!
