Duracell AGM 31 battery

Has anyone tried this as a cranking battery for a 200 optimax? Any thoughts on these?Thanks

Not for sure about the 31 series. But I bought a 27 series for my 93 200 Mercury back in February. I have zero complaints so far and I plan on switching to all these batteries once I need to change trolling batteries. The batteries are made by Deka.

I would definitely get the 31 for the Opti… As far as the Duracell, I dont now anything about them. As long as the CCAs are around 1000 and the RCs around 200, and the battery is heavy it might be worth a shot.Last edited by Mainliner61 on May 25th, 2014, 12:14 pm, edited 1 time in total.

The 31 AGM has 800 CCA, if I read the specs correctly with 1000 MCA. Is that adequate for the 200 Optimax?

Mercury Optimax Specs…1000 Marine Cranking Amps (MCA) or 750 Cold Cranking AMPS (CCA)

With running electronics, live wells, etc., you would do better with a stronger 31 series battery with more CCAs and MCAs. For example, the PM-1 has 1150 CCAs and the Interstate 31MXD has 1000 CCAs.

The dealer put a 31 Optima in mine for the 250 Pro XS. It has 800 CCA and 155 RC. The battery/boat is 6 months old. On a cold morning it sounds very weak. I will put a stronger battery on it before fall. I dont trust it.
