Ecoboost gas mileage

Fly, just returned from eight days of fishing off Hilton Head Island. Towed my CC and only got around 11 mpg vs 14. Dont know what happened that the flatter land did not produce better mileage vs mountain terrain. Did not run much over 68mph. Still towed like as dream. I will note that I discovered my gas gauge was not functioning properly once going over half full on my boat. I had it spewing out the top with none ethanol before I left and it added much to load towed. Thank goodness my Yami 150 fourstroke sips gas. OPEC loved me last week..golfen

Great post. Eco under evaluation and appreciate you telling it like it is. 11mpg? Hmmm…. Any idea how much weight you were towing? Now that is keeping it real.

It has been my experience that you will get the best mpg with non-ethanol fuel. I never use it in any of my vehicles, and I live in Iowa….ironic??? It just doe not make sense even considering the environmental aspects. We make more greenhouse emisions making that gallon of alcohol than we make burning a gallon of non-ethanol fuel……go figure???? Ill just wait for the corn lobbiest to start sending threats!!!!!!!!!Bill

Is it supposed to make sense, because little of this supposed reduction of green house gas emissions makes any sense. We see it all the time in our industry and no we are not cleansing the environment when all factors are considered. Actually polluting more, its just dispersed around some.

Not sure how many miles on your truck but I swear I read somewhere that over time the MPG improves on those EcoBoost F150s. Not sure where you are on the odometer. Just a thought.

I did a short 100 mile turn around this morning towing my PII and averaged 16.7. I will be able to post some better figures as am making a 1000 mile turn around for the WCBCOI. So between towing the PII, two lardos and all sorts of stuff we will never use I will provide some numbers.

I have 17k miles on truck now and was towing a little over 5000 lbs/. I had done much better until this trip averaging around 14 in hilly terrain. I had a full tank of gas in boat which holds 60 gallons. Air filter was clean. I may run it in and have it checked because I was in no hurry going or coming this trip and did not push truck like I normally would drive pulling my bass boat to a tournament. I am going to pull my bass boat up to Lake Douglas this Sunday and I will have another opportunity to check mileage while towing.golfen

When I went to Broken Bow 3 weeks ago, I was loaded (truck and boat), but had little gas in the boat. When I got home, I was getting 17.3 MPG. Its about a 500 mile trip counting in the city driving to eat and shop. No major climbing. I ran it like I should. Cruise set at 55 intil i got to 4 lane then 65. There and back.

I will take either one! I have a Raptor with a 6.2 and get AT BEST, 9 with the cougar on the hitch. Towed a friends 33 foot pontoon and got 7! I agree on the Ethanol thing. Complete BS, burn corn instead of gas or natural gas!Milton
