Ive got a problem on my 94 Pantera II that has me stumped. After fishing Saturday and having problems with my cranking battery I just assumed it was time to replace it. Then yesterday boat was in garage and I hear a high pitched sound coming from the boat so I go to investigate. The sound was an alarm under the dash going off and some of my dash lights were on. I checked and master power switch is off so I turn it on. Dash lights up normal and when I turn it off everything goes off. Maybe 10 minutes later same thing. This time I had to disconnect the battery to get the lights and alarm to go off. This boat was originally equipped with an Omega dash but has since been replaced. The only lights that come on when it does this are the ones on the far left of the dash- lights and fuel. Im no electrician but Im not totally green either. I just cant figure this one out. Any ideas????

It could be the ignition switch if the small buzzer under the dash is ticking some slight voltage. We also have seen other ground faults cause an issue by a slight flow of voltage. There does seem to be a back feed on the amperage getting to the panel in reverse. Though hard to say where it is coming from. Try unlpugging or disconnecting the ignition next time you hear that tinge of noise. BCB

Thanks, I will try that tonight. The alarm is pretty loud though. Sounds like the overheat alarm I think. Just adding that because you said “tinge of noise”.

is the sound coming from the over heat alarm? if so i would check the connections and wiring harnass going to the ignition switch. could be one of the wires back feeding voltage into the alarm. just a guess, but ive got a 94 pII also and thats where i would start.
