I would look for posibly a bad ground, or check the splices
try taking the pump out of the housing and running it while still connected to the wiring and see if it works. if not or runs real slow the problem is in the wiring. if you have a volt meter check the output at the connections for the pump.you should be able to see if it is the ground or the hot lead by putting one lead on the pumps hot wire and the other to the battery ground, and just the opposite to see which wire is the problem.
We suggest you have someone who is capable of reading a voltmeter look for voltage in those lines and determine where the issue is not connecting. Our first place to look would be the grounds on the terminal block mounted on the transom. If you can not find the error, then we have to suggest that you contact our service and have them forward you to Bobby C. and get more input on where to look considering a 2001 model. Good Luck,BCB
The new pump had a bad connection inside the pump , sometimes it would work , then it wouldnt . Replaced the pump again and now it works .. thanks everyone for your input
I have a 01 Jag and last weekend went to pump out the livewells, it wouldnt come on so I changed the pump and it worked , now today I tried it again and nothing ! took the pump out and hooked it to straight 12 volts ..it runs fine so I thought ok must be the switch , went to the local marine shop and bought a new switch ( replaced it with same brand switch that was in it) ….it still dont run . I also checked the breaker and its fine ..any ideas anyone????? this is really starting to get to me I hate electrical problems !!!!!
It could be a wire issue on a connector in the front panel area. In order to check this one would have to put a meter on the lead when starting the engine and draining the battery and trace it back.
I HAVE CHECKED WIRE CONNECTIONS IN FRONT COVER BATTERY VOLTAGE AT BATTERY 12.43 VOLTAGE AT FRONT COVER 12.38 WHEN I TURN ON BOTH GPS UNITS VOTAGE AT BATTERY 12.39 VOLTS AT FRONT 11.98 WHEN I TURN KEY TO START VOLTS DROP TO 10.04 AT BATTERY AND 9.8 AT FRONT.Last edited by jigfish on November 25th, 2009, 12:44 am, edited 1 time in total.
I have the same problem in my boat everyone said it was the battery so I went from a 700cca to a 1000cca battery but I still have the same problem . The voltage change you are seeing is due to voltage drop from the longer distance of wires run to the front of the boat vs the short run to your console. Some type of surge protector might help I will look into it when I get my boat back from the slow a$$ BC rep who has been fixing deck lights, ice chest rivets, and Yamaha gauge wires for 5 weeks now.
WHEN I TURN KEY TO START VOLTS DROP TO 10.04 AT BATTERY AND 9.8 AT FRONT Perhaps the battery is not as good as you think it is. This is a low voltage scenario and we think 10.5 turns off the LCR units. This is another reason we have suggested the larger AGM style batteries. BCB
Is it in gear? Just asking, though i think you would still show power to the gauges.
Check the battery connection and tighten them. Often this is the case as simple as it sounds.
No not in gear and already checked battery connection. Im sure its something simple just cant figure it out.
BCB guess you were right went back and took battery cables loose again and then put the whammy jammy tight on them and everything is working. Strange though it didnt fix it the first time I did it. Anyways thanks a lot yall are the best. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas.
Good!
I would start with checking all my breakers or fuses and master control switch. Im sure BCB will direct you the right way..
