Make sure the butt connectors going into the back of the master power switch are seated tightly. I had a 00 Jag and a loose connection caused those same symptoms.
Does sound like a connector end problem. Sometime the connector will get crimped or bent too far one way or another and it actually breaks loose. If this does not work need to run continuity test on wire to verify “full juice” is going all way thru wire. A nick, cut, or rodent damage to wire can cause oxidation then headaches.
On my 01 P3 I have had a few electrical problems over the years, but finally took the time one winter and went thru every connection I could find, and found quite a few that were in need of repair, including switches that needed replacement, and the blade connections behind the main power switch were in dire need of cleaning.
Often this is at the terminal block behind and above the starboard fuel tank, on the transom. These can be broken wires, rusted screws, corroded terminal ends and more. This is just a area we often find the culprit on this tpe electrical troubles.
Thank you for the information. I am going to check it out as soon as some of our snow clears down here in Texas
I have a 2001 jaguar and I am currently having problems with my electrical. I am currently having trouble getting power to my electronics at the console and at the bow. They get power sometimes and now no power. I am also not getting power to my livewell pump out as well. This is a switch located under my master power. My electronics at the console are hooked up to a white wire that runs to the courtesy light at the console. I do not know how the bow is connected. When the bow works the console power works as well. Everything else on the boat has power. I think my next step is to mess w/ the master power switch. I am not very good with electrical stuff. I am a rookie with boats. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks and Merry Christmas.
How did you wire in the power on your new depth finder? It sounds like you have a short to ground up front maybe. Could possibly be the nav light socket up front shorting out. Whats the history too. Was this all working prior to the install or did you just get the boat and discover you have a problem? No Dough. Thats the problem with me too. Welcome!
I bought the boat new, seems like the problem is in the master switch and/or breaker. I wired the new finder to the existing wires from previous depth finder. Went from Lowrance to Hummingbird. When I by-pass the breaker I have livewell pump and horn but nothing else on a-10 panel
If you are bypassing the breaker and still have problems, I would not think it is the breaker then. If you turn master switch on and you get some functions like live well and horn, maybe not the master switch either. I know there has been some issues with the A-10 panel. Just wondering if that may be it? I think you could eliminate the master switch by turning on live well pump, then turn off master and see if your live well pump also turns off. If it does, you know the master switch is working. Thats if it gets power through the master switch. Try the horn that way too. Can you tell where that buzzing is coming from? Good hot battery, I suppose. Low voltage does weird stuff sometimes. Make sure your battery connections are good and tight. Those are a few things you should check. Very hard to diagnose without being there with a multimeter.
Dont believe the assessment is accurate and we dont think he understands the 1993 system. A dash retro system would be our worst possible scenario though usually that is necessary. Often the dash itself is fine. Contact BCB Service on the phone and if your close to Arkansas one of the local shops here would be better. these guys either work or worked for BCB and two worked on your system new, one in the first design phase.
Thanks a bunch for the response. More and more I am seeing that this guy needs to be put out of business…..he is a money monger. I will call for sure. Not real close to Arkansas but found a guy an hour from me that I am told by a bass fishing pro is who he uses and the guy knows bass cats. The reassurance that his assessment is off is good to hear. Thank you.
