Electrical timer needed

Can anyone suggest a good electrical timer. I am going to start storing my boat in an inside storage and I would like to come up with an electrical timer that I could use when I bring the boat back from a fishing trip to put like a 24 hour charge on the batteries. I want a timer so I dont have to go back and unplug the on board charger. Surely someone is doing this. Thanks,

I just went to lowes and got a digital timer. Maybe theres a mother of all timers out there, but mine has worked fine so far.

Same as above. Digital timer from Lowes. I just charge it about 1 hour per day to keep them hot.

Look in the electrical dept for outside light timers. Start around $10.00 and up.Last edited by gclayfam on June 16th, 2014, 11:21 pm, edited 1 time in total.George

My on board charger has been plugged in for 15 years without a problem. Be sure to get one that you can turn on remotely the day before you go fishing. Your engine is drawing power when sitting.

Two weeks ago I forgot to plug in the charger for the cranking battery. After 10 days, it was at 10.8 volts. My engine is 1999 200 EFI. I turn off main power switch and all electronics. There is still a very tiny spark when I disconnect the large wire, either red or black, so there is a small drain at all times.

Although the possibility of fire is remote, chances are increased if you leave it plugged in all of the time. For years I used to, but do not any more. Better to use a timer or have some kind of charging routine.

Thanks for the replies. Since I am storing the boat off site I am just looking for a timer that I can set for 12 hours and then it will kick off. I am trying to avoid having to go back the next day to unplug the charger. Thanks again to all that responded.
