electrinics upgrade , wowza what a pain !

Finally got around to upgrading my electronics. I believe they were installed by the factory since the boat only had 12 hours on it. I’m going back to the birds since that’s what im use to from my previous rig. How in the crap did you run those Lowrance cables through that tiny wire tube? I cant get the wires out, guess im going to have to just cut them.

Not sure how I can help on your issue, but this is doable. The cable may not have to run through the tube you are writing about. Take your time with this. Wait for one of us to help or check with the plant. Tell us a little bit about your boat, model, year, etc. and where it is hanging up. Most of us have been through something similar.

A wire snake will make your life easier as will a second pair of hands. Sometimes the original cables installed during boat build get taped or wire tied together so then may not pull out. Ran into this with livewell cable.

Yep… I’m just going to cut and fish the new cables through. I got everything out but the console transducer and console network cable.

I had bird send me a shoot though hull transducer as it failed right when I got the boat. That joker was fun to pop free in the hull.. and the wires were like what you said not coming back out. I cut it off. I then had some ethernet cable/ or data sharing issues. They sent me a new cable to that linked my onix units. I decided to remove the old cable installed at the factory. I took the speaker out was a good 10′ extra cable wound up and tossed down into the side of the boat and that thing was zip tied to holy hell! I think they zip tie all that stuff up before its installed.

You`d think they would run those separate for easy removal,seeing the constant changes in the industry and customers wanting the ability to upgrade, Not to mention failures and the need to change. This should be addressed and not overlooked for future customers.

Hey , where would the satisfaction be if it was an easy task ?? — As for the coiled wires , they don’t come in made to order lengths , and it has to go somewhere , so it is what it is . — I’ve done my own several times , and several others besides mine , and it just isn’t easy to do , ever , but with a little tenacity you’ll be successful . — Best thing I found to use as a snake is an old liner from a mig welder . — Works great . —
