Electronics help needed- Pantera Classic

I have an 05 Classic. I am looking to upgrade to the new SI and DI units. I would appreciate some setup advice. I want the console unit in dash which limits me to the smaller units. I would like to have SI on the console. Should I put a SI unit or a DI unit on the bow? I will mount the bow transducer on the TM. What is the best installment area for the SI transducer? any thoughts on HB vs Lowrance. thanks for your help.

If you go with HDS units with the LSS-1 (down and side imaging) you can link them together. Not sure what will fit the dash of your classic, but my PIV has HDS-7 in dash and a HDS-5 on the bow. Side/Down imaging is shared through the LSS-1. Otherwords, theyre networked together. My boat had the lowrance ducers already, so I went that route, I did have to add the transducer for side/down imaging. Thats a whole nother story.

I have a 07 Classic. The previous owner installed two small ram mounts into a plate they installed in the dash. I have a X-27 in the mount which is a decent size. If you go to my images you can see where the bracket is which puts the unit in kind of a heads up display position. The top is just below the windshield but still plenty of room around the wheel. Pretty neat but as mentioned, I cant take credit for it. It is easy to read at speed though it does partially blocks some other gauges.

i would put the unit on a ram mount, my lcx 27 was installed in dash on my puma and the unit went out. none of the newer units will fit in this hole, so i have to get a bigger unit or fab a plate to cover where it was. i will never have another in dash install again because of this.( just imho)

I had a X-17m in the dash which is bigger than the HDS-7. Much bigger. If it werent for the $800+ price difference between the 7& 8, I would have jumped to an HDS-8. Nonetheless, I had to fabricate a mount for the HDS-7. Its pretty solid, and Im happy.

This is on my 06 Classic, I know this is not exactly what you are thinking of but it worked very, very well for me. Thought you might want to consider. I was not interested in SI trans on the trolling motor at the time but now with the new software and enthernet option I will probably add SI on the bow on my next one and just use the same SI transducer in the back. Yeah I know I cant see my speedo but……Good Luck!J..

I mounted my SI 997 HB on a ram mount made for a motorcycle no holes needed it mounts to the hand rail. Wrapped some thin rubber roofing around it first and tightened it down doesnt slip at all.
