Electronics mounting

I have a 2009 Puma FTD that Im adding a Ram mount at the console for an HDS 7. Looking for ideas on where to mount it. Have thought about replacing driver cleat with mount or mounting on the side of the console. Do I need to add any backing for the bolts or will bolts/nuts be enough?tksBigal

Are you leaving a graph in-dash? The HDS 7 will fit in-dash. You can mount as you mentioned near the cleat. Best to put a backing plate on the inside. Another option is one of my mounts if you want to replace current in-dash and go to bigger graph without using a RAM… Sherm

Sherms mount is great, I tried many different ways and found his mount to be the one to stay with.

Thank you for your replies. I had actucally e-mailed sherm about his mount a couple of weeks ago. Ive decided to keep the original LMS520 and mount the HDS on a RAM mount. Thanks for your help.Bigal
