Guys – I have a Navionics Hot Maps SD Card from my old Lowrance LMS 520C and wish to use in my new boat which has a Humminbird 788C and a 767. Do the units required their own chips? Is is like a Mac and a PC where things will not cross platforms due to differences in language? Just wondering if some can help me. Thanks

the mmc card WILL work in your humminbird. If you want toconvert your waypoints, you will have to download humminbird pc on to your computer. It is a free download and works great. Congrats on the new units!

That is right bigfish1965! Few people know that they can convert waypoints across systems, though the conversion software is required. BCB

Guys thanks for the input, but I must not be doing something correctly. When I insert the chips, the unit never seems to recognize the SD chip. This is what has lead me to posting this on the board for discussion. I have followed the manual instructions. Any ideas?

HumminBrid has a forum that answers these questions. We are not sure if the Hot Maps is compatible, and we dont think it is. We think you need Platinum or Gold cards for HumminBrid units in the 700 series. That is from our pea brains, thus we could be wrong.

Be sure your Lowrance waypoints are read into Humminbird PC software. Then from Humminbird PC make sure your export your data to the HB format. I have done this. I cant give you exact details but in general this his how it works. If you do it correctly once you put your SD card into your unit (make sure its on) your HB will tell you the data has automatically been imported into your unit. It takes seconds its that fast using a SD Card. I do this all the time marking spots on my Navioncis map software then exporting waypoints to file my HB 797cSI to read. Its fast and convenient.
