Ordering a Cougar FTD this week end, wanting to know your all thoughts on setting up electronics. I am going to go with the Lowrance Touch 12 and Touch 9. My thoughts are put the touch 12 on the front on a Ram Mount and the Touch 9 on the back console on a Ram Mount. I plan on keeping this boat 5- 10 years if not longer.MY REASONS; I think that the bigger unit would be better up front versus at the console and I believe I would rather the larger screen up front.The purpose of the 9 on the console(Ram Mounted) is (3 reasons) 1. I dont want to blow my budget and spend the extra money on a second 12″ screen. 2. in a couple years new electronics will come out and like my current boat the holes and screw locations in the console will not line up with the newer units and could possibly show the screw holes etc. (most likely) which in my opinion will look like crap if the screw holes are not repaired. 3. The third reason is, if i Ram mount my electronics, I will be able to swap out both units (12 to the back, 9 to the front or vise versa) at any given time. If I ever have to replace the either unit this option would be better than drilling new holes into the console. My opinion here is that im not sure that i want any additional holes in the console.Also, I realize that I would have a blank space where the electronic woud be installed in the dash, my plan would be to go to my local graphics company to have a lowrance decal made. Any thoughts would be helpfulThanks
