I have a 2012 Cougar factory rigged with a GEN2 8 on the console linked to a GEN2 7 on the bow. They are networked through a LSS 1 module with a LSS1 transducer. I am ready to buy a touch 9 and ram mount next to console. What will I need to add the 9 to the network ? Also will I be able to use the 2D transducer thats already mounted in the bilge ? Would it be worth the money to get a LSS2 transducer to replace the LSS1 ? I have done the updates on both units and they work flawlessly. I want the 9 for mostly side imaging, but also want to be able to use the 2D sonar and share waypoints, ect. with my other two units. Any info would be appreciated.

I would not get the LSS2 transducer, I dont think you are going to get any improvement in the depths we fish in, as far as the networking all 3 units, I would ask in the Lowrance forum over on Bassboatcentral.com

If youre going to network the 9 you just need a ethernet cable. Many prefer the imagery of the LSS-1 over the LSS-2. I know I wont do the upgrade. You should be able to network any transducer you want.I love my Lowrance products I have a HDS8, HDS7, LSS-1, Point 1, LWX-1, Sonic Hub, Weather, Sirius and connected via Ethernet and NMEA.

Thanks for the info guys. Im really pleased with the images I get from the LSS1. I may post this over on BBC, But now that you mentioned it I remember talking to the Lowrance Rep. at the dealers meeting and Im pretty sure he said all I would need is the ethernet cable. Hope to meet some of you folks at the OI next spring.

Mike, I went out in the garage and looked at the LSS1 module. Its mounted on the back wall of my drivers side rod locker. As you face it, there are 3 yellow male ports on the left side and two of those have cables connected to them and the third has a plastic cover over it. So it has one unused port. Do you think that is where the ethernet cable for the 9 would connect? I remember the Rep told me that if the module ever became faulty that I could network the other 2 units with the 9 without a module.

I think youre right, the LSS cables go to the 7 and 8 and an ethernet cable could connect from the LSS to the 9.

I posted over on BBC and guy said it was just a matter of connecting the ethernet cable to the third port on the LSS1 module. He also pointed out that the internal SS on the 9 wont work with a LSS1 transducer. My question is can I use the LSS1 module with the 9 for side imaging or will I have to get a LSS2 transducer? By the way, GRR884, you asked me on another forum where in Ky. I was located, Glasgow, about 30 miles north of Bowling Green.

Pretty sure they are correct. Might just use the 9 for 2nd and mapping and keep the 8 for the Structure Sca.Just passed thru Glasgow last week. Barren must be your home water. Between that & Dale Hollow you have some great water around you.

I got the answer I was wanting over on BBC. I can use the LSS1 Transducer with The touch9, it will just go thru the LSS1 module and wont utilize the internal SS in the touch 9. Barren, Green, Dale Hollow and Nolin all close by. Lots of options when it comes to chasing those green and brown critters. Got a little club tourney on Barren this Saturday. Today feels like winter!!!
