Elictrical issue

I have a 2013 sabre ftd and have developed an electrical problem. When I turn on my running lights the tach stops reading correctly. It will show that I am running 2-3 thousands more rpms than I am. Any ideas on where to start looking for the problem?thanks

That sounds like either a faulty ground inside the tachometer or an electrical issue inside the engine.

Should I replace the tach first or take it apart and try to find the ground?

I also discovered the light in the speedometer isnt working but the bulb is good.

Lights are all on grounds (black wire) and a white wire in different stripe colors. We hate to assume so check the grounds and have a technician verify voltage is right.
